Flatpay

Performance creative for a growing fintech

Flatpay is a Danish fintech company offering simple payment solutions for businesses. As part of a creative case study, I developed a performance-focused advertising campaign across static, video and UGC formats, exploring how the same core message could be adapted into different creative executions.

The brief

The task was to develop a performance-focused campaign communicating Flatpay’s 0% Mastercard fees for 12 months offer.

I was asked to explore the campaign across multiple formats, creating static advertising, a short-form video concept and a UGC approach.

The challenge was to communicate a straightforward financial benefit in a way that felt clear, engaging and native to each format, while maintaining a consistent campaign message throughout.

Exploration & Initial Research

I started by looking at Flatpay’s existing advertising and visual language to understand how the brand communicated its offer and where there was room to explore.

I then developed a range of initial concepts, experimenting with different compositions, visual treatments and audiences before narrowing the direction down.

The exploration helped me identify which approaches could communicate the offer quickly and clearly, while still giving the campaign enough visual character to stand out in a performance advertising environment.

Creative Direction

I wanted the campaign to feel simple, direct and attention-grabbing, while allowing the same core message to work across very different advertising formats.

I focused on the strength of the offer ‘0% Mastercard fees for 12 months’, and explored how typography, composition and motion could make that message immediately understandable.

I gathered the available assets and studied the brand guides and began to explore the main message and condense it into a single Headline.

The first design I kept super simple, to make sure I have all the necessary elements without anything to distract or influence the idea.
not focusing very much on design rules or layout at this stage

Taking a cue from one of the images in the guide I decided I liked the multicoloured images, and they get to show off the nice colour palettes Flatpay has.

The important components here are:

The headline

the Terminal

the CTA

An image of a person

more info for the message and the payment logos add trust

Revising, resizing, and refining the concept

Really clear visual hierarchy, uncomplicated messaging. Super on-brand.
the terminal is the main feature after the headline.

More attention and space for images. Allowing the opportunity for the viewer to see themselves with the product, and connects them to the message.

UGC Script

Not overly complicated.
What I think is important here is the start
’ATTENTION’

and the more familiar tone. Almost like a friend is clueing you in on some insider information.

The message is clear and un-diluted

Additional discovery and new and original concepts

In addition to the main task I was also given the opportunity to explore and present new concepts and design and campaign ideas.

Looking at different audiences, messaging angles and visual styles.

This was a fantastic chance to have some fun with the brand and see how far I could creatively push the branding, whilst staying within the appropriate guides.

The outcome

The final campaign translated the same core proposition across three different formats: static, video and UGC.

I explored how each format could use its own strengths to communicate the offer; clear visual messaging for static, movement and storytelling for video, and a more native, personal approach for UGC.

I developed a range of original concepts, exploring different visual styles, audiences and ways of communicating Flatpay’s brand.

The result was a flexible set of performance creative concepts designed to communicate Flatpay’s offer clearly while opening up different creative routes for future campaign development.
